Impact of Global Warming on Industry
From ClimateWiki
According to the International Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), industries that are dependent resources that attribute to climate change are the industries most likely to be affected by global warming. The following is a detailed list of industries that can be impacted by global warming.

Effect on Water Industry
The IPCC approximates that, by the middle of the 21st century, "the average yearly river runoff and water availability will increase by 10 to 40 percent in the wet tropics and at high latitudes, while it will decrease by 10 to 30 percent in the dry tropics and dry regions at mid-latitudes."
It is also predicted that there will be in an increase in floods and drought as well as a decrease in snow while glaciers will produce less water.
These changes are supposed to negatively affect the water industry.
Natural Resources
Due to predicted drought, crop productivity is expected to decrease in areas. However, it is also expected to increase in other areas of the world as well.
If this is the case, both food production and distribution industries as well as the agriculture industry will be impacted. Forestry is also predicted to be affected.
The IPCC predicts an increase in commercial timber production, but notes that the effects will vary in different parts of the world, as with agriculture.
Global warming is also expected to negatively affect the fishing industry as the IPCC approximates that the distribution of fish and their productivity will both change.
Effect on Tourism
Tourism is also predicted to be impacted according the IPCC.
The IPCC bases this outcome on the fact that the tourism industry relies on specific locations and natural resources.
For example, "ski resorts and low-lying tropical islands are most at risk, as snowfall patterns change and the sea level rises. Rising fuel prices could also affect tourism by restricting travel."
Effect on Insurance Industry
Due to an expected increase in the frequency and severity of weather events, the insurance industry is expected to be negatively impacted as the number of large payouts they will have to make will increase.
Effect on Construction Industry
Additionally, due to the increase in flooding and extreme weather conditions, the construction industry will be impacted as it will need to take more care when "selecting sites and incorporate precautions against extreme weather and flooding into their plans."
